In 1972 Wiepke van de Lageweg bought his first horse for breeding. What started for him as a hobby with only one breeding mare , expanded into an international operating family company: Castlefield Breeding farm is divided in four different divisions:


Approved stallion station:
- Worldwide more than 50 approved stallions
- EU approved and certified semen collection centre
- Export  frozen semen worldwide
- Export of fresh semen within Europe


Breedingfarm:    
- A breedingprogram  consisting of more than 80 excellent breeding mares with the best bloodlines
- Raising up of young talented sporthorses

Sporthorses:                  
A modern facility to train young horses and sporthorses from starters level until Grand Prix level for showjumping and dressage.


Horse Trading:
Castlefield Breeding farm sells sporthorses of all ages and levels in showjumping and dressage. Have a look at our Sales page for some of the horses thatw e have currently for sale.


A few achievements:
1996: Jus de Pomme wins double Gold medal at Olympic Games  Atlanta
1999:  Nimmerdor is honored as  ‘Stallion of the Century’
2004: Cardento wins Team Silver Medal at Olympic Games Athene
2009: Family van de Lageweg is honored as KWPN Breeder of the Year
2009: Westpoint becomes World Champion of the 6 year old dressage horses
2012: Bubalu wins Team Silver Medal at Olympic Games London
2014: Bubalu becomes World Champion with the Dutch Showjumping Team in Caen
2015:  Zirocco Blue wins Team Silver Medal at European Championship

 
Castlefield Breeding farm Stud has 4 facilities with more than 300 hectares of grassland:
Bears  
- Certified and EC recognized Centre for semen collection
- Training facility with 3 indoor arena’s, 1 outdoor arena,  2 horsewalkers, paddocks, etc.
- Breeding station with stabling for broodmares
- Veterinarian clinic specialized in Fertility  and pre-purchase examinations                    

Jorwerd                                           
- New built barn in 2003 barn for stabling  80 broodmares

Deinum                                                           
- New built barn in 2012 for raising up 120 2 year old stallions

Weidum  
- New built barn in 2015 for raising up 160 foals
